Artist, Julie Herring
Julie Herring started studying Art in her mid-twenties, originally in Natural History Illustration, then Fine Art painting and later achieving a Masters of Art in Museum Studies (which included ‘Collections Management’). She also studied short courses (City & Guilds) in Silver-smithing and Jewellery Design; Ceramics and Ceramic Design; and Printmaking.
In April 2014, Julie left full-time employment to re-establish her own art practice and working studio. With over 20 years’ experience of managing and curating Public Art exhibitions and displays at Bournemouth University, Julie is now a freelance Artist/Curator.
earth studio, tucked away in Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Poole, is now her base for creating her artwork and where she runs drawing workshops for adults and children. Julie teaches and encourages observational drawing skills, inspired from nature.
For many years, Julie has also been building up her personal Collection of Arts & Crafts, from earth studio. Her interest has always been in natural forms, designs and patterns in nature, and handcrafted, ethnic and folk art. Her Art Collections includes studio pottery, art glass, paintings, printmaking, natural jewellery, textiles and decorative arts.
